The Start

I start dancing at the age of five(5).  Every time we have a family reunion or a simple gathering at my Grandpa's house my relatives will usually say, " JYYLLEE its time for you to DANCE".

As far as I remember TOP DANCE song of that year 1981 is PHYSICAL by OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN.

Well, I am young and I am physically active. I kick so high, I split and do my routine.  For me that is dancing.  I am freely expressing myself by way of throwing my hands, feet and at the same time my body. I don't count steps by step, I have my own choreography.

Too funny, yeah its true even my Aunts and Uncles will tell me I will be a GOOD DANCER someday. And yes they're right!  A Dance Choreographer in High School and in College, I am the VICE-PRESIDENT/CHOREOGRAPHER of the ATENEO DANCE TROUPE.

I learned something new from you, Pal! Do you still teach or choreograph? And as for being the 'dancer' back in the day.. I was also just like you, the family's 'entertainer'. But that was it.. it ended during my younger years. Hahaha!

I still do quick routines Mai with my kids. And sometimes I do choreography in their school.

I envy people who can dance because I can't. Haha. High school was torture for me because no one would agree to be my partner during mandatory PE dances.

You are destined to be a dancer, Sis. My daughter had a similar story pero she is not into dancing, singing naman. Iba ka sis, blogger na dancer pa. :)

wow! so you are indeed a great dancer because I think to be a choreographer needs to be dancer first. I first learned dancing through my family, wherein we usually dances with chacha and tango during family occasions.

My mother enrolled me in all kinds of dance classes when I was in elementary. I actually enjoyed being part of the Dance Club up to high school but responsibilities pushed that interest in the background.

Oh my! I used to be one of a 3 girl-dance group during my high school days. We used to dance Borderline by Madonna, Glamorous Life by Sheila E and When the Doves Cry by Prince. I guess you know my age now. LOL!!!

Haha! The old "I'll exercise today" song of my mom and her friends up to about ten years ago. Needless to say, it didn't work!

I envy you, I have two left feet! My mom did enroll me in ballet school but just have to accept the fact that I'm no dancer :)

There is no discounting the fact that "Let's Get Physical" is one of the favorite tunes if you want to dance and burn calories in aerobics. Yet, I hope you can also feature your own dance video here to show how this song has inspired you to dance.

I danced ballet, jazz and hawaiian from the time I was 6 till 16...then became a member of my college troupe for 2 years (in lieu of PE)...then I stopped. But inspite of my dance background, I still developed some knee arthritis, LOL. I still have the rhythm and the grace and so, as long as there is not much stepwork I'm game, ;)
